Assessing and Treating Individuals, Couples, and Families will cover using emotional space, visual props, and sculpting to see, feel, enhance awareness, and make realistic changes. This presentation will demonstrate assessing couples and families with metaphoric Imagery and visual sculpting. The speaker will bring real cases from the audience into visual displays to show the Supervision Model for Assessing and Treating.

Objectives:

  • Identify the reasons for utilizing visual and experiential techniques.
  • Describe how the use of visual props is effective.
  • Demonstrate why seeing and feeling emotional positions and spacing becomes useful, undeniable, and tools for change.
  • Implement various techniques – especially metaphoric imagery and similar exercises for assessment.
  • Describe nine classic types of couples.
  • Combine various approaches for supervision purposes.

Presenter:

John Carpenter, MSW, LCSW has worked in behavioral health since 1982. He currently works for Bridges Medical Services and Ozarks Community Hospital. John has also published a book titled, Effective Strategies for Helping Coupling Couples and Families.
