Program Description:
Internet addiction is a new disorder. This program will outline the clinical signs of addictive use of the Internet and the various consequences of the problem including relationship breakups, job loss, social isolation, and academic failure. The program will outline various subtypes of the disorder including online gaming addiction, cybersex addiction, Internet gambling, and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Finally, the program will outline initial steps in treatment planning.

Dr. Young also has published several books and book chapters including, Online Gaming Addiction: Diagnosis and Treament, Internet Sex Addiction: Risk Factors, Stage and Treatment and Internet Addiction: The Consequences of a new clinical phenomena.

The Missouri Institute of Mental Health will award 1 clock hour or 1.2 contact hours (.1 CEU) for this activity.MIMH credit will fulfill Clinical Social Work and Psychologist licensure requirements in the State of Missouri. Attendees with licensure from other states are responsible for seeking appropriate continuing education credit, from their respective boards for completing this program.
