Program Description:

The presentation will give an overview of obesity in the United States including, prevalence, causes, and consequences both health and economic. Treatment options and possible environmental changes will be discussed.

Program Presenter:

Ann Terry, is the Dietetic Services Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Mental Health in Jefferson City, MO. In 1984, she graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Dietetics. Ann has worked for the Department of Mental Health since 1987 beginning as a clinical dietitian at Fulton State Hospital and later as the Director of Dietetic Services. In 1994, Ann transferred to Central Office as the assistant coordinator of Dietetic Services and later as the Coordinator of Dietetic Services. Her current responsibilities include: providing consultation and technical assistance to the DMH dietetic service directors; managing a National School Lunch and USDA Commodity Program; and coordinating the usage of the Department’s food management software. Ann is a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Dietitian in the State of Missouri. She currently serves on the Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition.
