Program Description
Exposure to traumatic experiences is relatively common and most people recover naturally. However, every year approximately 8.5 million people in the United States will meet diagnostic criteria for PTSD. More alarming is that around 80% of these individuals will also meet criteria for another mental health condition, the most common being depressive disorders. In this training, we will address the impact of exposure to traumatic experiences, common responses to traumatic experiences, and specifically address the link between posttraumatic stress disorder and depressive disorders.
By attending this program participants will:
- Recognize and describe common responses to traumatic experiences
- Understand the diagnostic criteria for PTSD
- Articulate the link between PTSD and other mental health conditions

Ryan Lindsay, LCSW
Ryan Lindsay, LCSW is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of the St. Louis Center for Family Development, LLC. Mr. Lindsay has spent the past 10 years working with individuals who suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, and depressive disorders through the use of several highly effective treatments. After graduating with a Master of Social Work from The University of Michigan School of Social Work, he completed a Post-Master’s Fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry and Social Work at the University of Michigan Health Center. Mr. Lindsay is a dedicated clinician and trainer of multiple evidence-based treatments which include Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Additionally, he regularly consults with facilities operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health in their implementation of evidence-based treatments and is an Adjunct Professor at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.

The University of Missouri, Missouri Institute of Mental Health will be responsible for this program and will maintain a Record of your continuing education credits earned.
MIMH will award 3 clock hours or 3.9 contact hours (.4 CEUs) for this program.

This program is approved for 3 contact hours by the Missouri Credentialing Board.
NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors)
MIMH is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC – approved clock hours for events (or programs) that meet NBCC requirements. MIMH is solely responsible for all aspects for the program.

Refund Policy
If you are unable to attend, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations received in writing five business days prior to the date of the program will be refunded, less a $25.00 processing fee. You may send a substitute, but we ask that you notify us in writing of this change. If you do not attend or send a substitute, you or your employer will be billed the full registration fee.
