In recent years, organizations have become more aware that traumatic experiences are much more common than originally thought. Many mental health, addiction and social service agencies are working to enhance they ways they welcome, treat and retain individuals they serve who have experienced trauma through trauma informed systems of care initiatives. Becoming trauma informed can be a daunting task. This presentation will provide a map for organizations for successful organizational change as well as an overview of evidence-based trauma interventions and the lessons learned to implementation, effective treatment and sustainability.

- Gain knowledge about which evidence-based trauma treatments are available and what populations they are effective with

Edward Riedel, MSW, LCSW
Edward Riedel, MSW, LCSW, has worked for the Missouri Institute of Mental Health, a division of the University of Missouri St. Louis as a Project Director for the past 8 years. His work includes program evaluation, implementation of evidence-based practices, organizational change processes, trauma informed care training and fidelity assessment. Prior to that Mr. Riedel spent 20 years working in community mental health in rural Missouri as a clinician, director and vice president. Mr. Riedel has been an adjunct clinical instructor for the University of Missouri, graduate School of Social Work, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer and a Non Violent Crisis Intervention trainer. He has been a Mental Health First Aid trainer for the past 5 years and works with the MHFA team in St. Louis conducting training, quality evaluation and instructor certification.

The University of Missouri, Missouri Institute of Mental Health will be responsible for this program and will maintain a record of your continuing education credits earned. MIMH will award 2 clock hour or 2.4 contact hours (.2 CEU) for this program. MIMH credit will fulfill Clinical Social Work and Psychologist licensure requirements in the State of Missouri. Attendees with licensure from other states are responsible for seeking appropriate continuing education credit, from their respective boards for completing this program.
