Oftentimes the front-line workers in mental health are faced with helping patients manage and navigate medication-related issues, despite not being the provider that prescribes the medications. The seminar will use an active learning case-based approach to review the common issues that arise and develop some strategies for managing these issues.
Over the past few years there have been several new drugs or new formulations of medications that have come to the market for managing mental illness. The seminar will provide an overview of these developments with a focus on how these will impact the care of patients. Additionally, there are some new pharmacologic strategies in the pipeline that have potential to add important new agents to our armamentarium of treatments for mental illness. The goal is to discuss these with enough science to make it interesting, but not mind numbing.
Finally, during the weeks leading up to the seminar, registered attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions they would like to have answered during the presentation. Please note that we will not be able to discuss specific clients.
