Program Description:
This program is designed for Mental Health Researchers, Institutional Review Board Members, Patient and Research Participant Advocates, Research Integrity Officers, Physicians, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and other professionals that work in mental health research.
Program Presenters:
James M. DuBois, PhD, DSc is Hubert M��der Chair of Health Care Ethics and Bander Center Director at Saint Louis University. He also serves as director of the Center for Clinical Research Ethics within Washington University���s Institute for Clinical and Translational Science.
Karen Leggett Dugosh, PhD is a Quantitative Psychologist at the Treatment Research Institute. In addition to providing methodological and statistical expertise to TRI scientists, Dr. Dugosh is involved in research that examines ethical issues surrounding research participation and is particularly interested in the construct of coercion.
David S. Festinger, PhD is the Director of TRI’s Section on Law and Ethics Research and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and a fellow in the American Psychological Association’s Division of psychopharmacology.
Laura Beskow, PhD is an Assistant Research Professor at the Duke Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy in the Center for Genome Ethics, Law, and Policy, and Associate Director of the ethics core of the Duke Translational Medicine Institute. She chairs the Informed Consent Task Force for the Consent and Community Consultation Workgroup of the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE) Network.
Rose James, PhD is Acting Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioethics and Humanities at University of Washington. She currently directs the Indigenous Genomics Alliance core in the Center for Genomics and Healthcare Equality and co���chairs the Advancing Indigenous Research Ethics in Practice and Policy.
