Program Description:

This program will focus on understanding the importance of a comprehensive assessment and how to incorporate the trans-theoretical stages of change model into the process.

Program Presenter:

John Colligan, is currently the Clinical Director for the Farmington Treatment Center at the Farmington Correctional Center. He supervises 24 staff in three separate programs that provide services to over 350 offenders. He was the Department of Corrections Southeast Area Substance Abuse Treatment Coordinator and worked as a SAC III for nine years at the Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. John was in the USAF for over six years, separating as a Captain. John currently teaches for Washburn University and in 2004 received the Deans Award for Distinguished Instruction from City University. He is a Certified Advanced Substance Abuse Counselor and earned his Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1999.

The Missouri Institute of Mental Health will award 1 clock hour or 1.2 contact hours (.1 CEU) for this activity.MIMH credit will fulfill Clinical Social Work and Psychologist licensure requirements in the State of Missouri. Attendees with licensure from other states are responsible for seeking appropriate continuing education credit, from their respective boards for completing this program.
