Program Description:

Participants will have an increased knowledge of the importance of considering alternatives to guardianship and will be able to understand what alternatives to guardianship currently exist.

Program Presenter:

Nancy Nickolaus, LCSW, obtained her Masters in Social Work from the University of Missouri. She began working with individuals with disabilities as a direct support worker in the early 1980s. Nancy worked as a service coordinator with individuals with mental illness for 11 years. In 1994, she began her work at the Department of Mental health, Division of Developmental Disabilities. She has experience working in the Division’s federal programs unit with home and community based waivers, self directed services, targeted case management programs and many other Division Initiatives. Nancy is currently a member of the Division’s Transformation Initiative promoting the goal of community living for individuals with disabilities that have long-term care needs.

We offer the following accreditation which is available during the Web Conference, via a link below the video window: The University of Missouri-Columbia Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) will be responsible for this program and maintain a record of your continuing education credits earned. The Missouri Institute of Mental Health will award 1 clock hour or 1.2 contact hours (.1 CEU) for this activity.MIMH credit will fulfill Clinical Social Work and Psychologist licensure requirements in the State of Missouri. Attendees with licensure from other states are responsible for seeking appropriate continuing education credit, from their respective boards for completing this program.
